A reminder that a huge showcase of local football and old community club rivalries will take place this Sunday from 11am at Creyk Park Oval.
Kelmscott, Gosnells, Forrestdale and Lynwood Ferndale will each host a senior men’s football team in the community Pre-Season Cup event, showcasing the best and most committed local football talent.
Round robin games will run hourly from 11am, with Kelmscott and Forrestdale going head-to-head, shortly followed by Lynwood Ferndale and Gosnells at 12pm.
After six games, the top two will play off in a Grand Final at 5pm.
The day is set to provide great grass roots football entertainment, with a Canteen, Coffee Van, and children’s playground located at the reserve. With limited parking access at the reserve, the organisers recommend the street parking around Kingsley Primary School.
Proudly sponsored by local Burt Minister Matt Keogh, the public event will provide an opportunity to showcase the great talent in Perth’s South East, with many players committing early in the preseason to try for a spot on a team.
As the first of its kind, organisers have said it’s taken a lot of coordination and planning to get it up and running.
They hold high hopes that it will become a yearly exhibition of the local Perth Football League clubs.
The Pre-Season Event precedes the upcoming South Metro ‘Indigenous and All Stars Mid-Season Exhibition Game’ on 31 May, hosted at Kelmscott Football Club, and conducted by local community clubs and groups.
