Families in East Cannington are in for a treat this April, as the Y East Cannington Early Learning Centre (ELC) opens its doors for two exciting open days.
Aimed at children from birth to five years old, the events offer local families the perfect opportunity to explore the centre, meet the team, and enjoy a taste of the fun-filled learning on offer.
The first event, set for Tuesday, April 15, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, promises a morning of Easter-themed delight. Kids can enjoy an Easter egg hunt, egg decorating, face painting, and a morning tea, all designed to create a playful and welcoming atmosphere for little ones and their families.
Then, on Wednesday 30 April from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, the centre will host its second open day, this time featuring sensory play, cookie decorating, face painting, and afternoon tea. Guests will also have the chance to meet Renee Chakaodza, the Y WA’s Literacy Specialist, who will be on hand to share insights about the centre’s innovative School ReadY program.
Designed for children aged three to five, School ReadY is a new play-based learning program being rolled out across all 14 Y WA Early Learning Centres. The program focuses on preparing children for school by nurturing skills in three key areas: literacy and language, social and emotional wellbeing, and numeracy. By aiming to “level the playing field,” the program ensures all children, no matter their background, have access to the tools they need to thrive in school and beyond.
Centre Director Jyoti Pandya and the friendly team at the Y East Cannington ELC are excited to welcome families and guide the fun. Whether you’re exploring care options or simply looking for a fun outing with your little one, these open days are not to be missed.
Both events are free and will be held at Y East Cannington ELC, 240 Station Street, East Cannington. Registration is encouraged. Families can sign up by searching Stay and Play East Cannington on Eventbrite.
