The alert was issued at 3:28pm on Saturday, April 6, for people in an area bounded by Holmes Street, Balfour Street, Furley Road, and Lakey Street.

At the time, emergency services warned that there was a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire burned in the area with conditions quickly changing.

Residents were urged to stay alert, act immediately, and prepare to leave, with authorities stressing that waiting for further instructions could be dangerous.

Fire crews successfully contained and brought the fire under control, but residents were still advised to stay away from the affected zone as emergency services monitored the area.

Authorities remind the public to stay informed and prepared for sudden changes.
