Budding singers only have one week left to enter Kelmscott Idol, the southeast’s biggest talent quest.
Kelmscott Idol gives local singer-songwriters an outlet to unleash their talents at a public show at the Kelmscott Show on October 14.
Auditions will take place on September 10 and 11 for the junior and senior divisions and the 12 best acts will perform.
The best singers will win a six-hour recording session at a recording studio while runners up will receive money.
Organiser Rachel John said the competition was a wonderful way of unearthing the great talent that lives locally.
“We’ve had some really head turning talent perform previously,” she said.
“I remember last year at the finals at the Kelmscott Show I was backstage but when there was someone really amazing I was walking all the way around the stage to hear them. It’s quite exciting for culture and arts in this region.
“I get warm and fuzzy every time I run this event.”
Ms John said this year it wasn’t just about giving the children a performance opportunity but about nurturing their talent later on down the track, which is what the recording studio session offered.
Interested applicants should contact idol@kelmscottshow.com.au or to download an entry form visit the show website kelmscottshow.com.au.
Be quick as entries close on September 1.
