Residents will get a lighthearted look at the history of Armadale when comedian Peter Rowsthorn takes up a residency at the Armadale history house museum next month.

Mr Rowsthorn, best known for his work as Brett Craig in the TV series Kath and Kim, will be conducting four comedic tours of the museum from August to November.

Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said Mr Rowsthorn would share stories and histories about some of his favourite items on display.

“Peter will be your guide as he takes you on a tour of history house museum and gives you his take on the history of the City of Armadale,” he said.

Mr Rowsthorn said it was his first ever museum tour but he was looking forward to it.

“I don’t have a huge affiliation or knowledge of the area yet but my mother-in-law lives in Byford and I’ve known Armadale since the early 90s,” he said.

“(The tour) is an interesting idea and approach.

“It will be half improvised and half knowledge.

“It’s a really eclectic museum, it’s halfway collector museum halfway bric a brac shop.”

Performances will be held on August 27 at 7pm, September 27 at 2pm, October 29 at 7pm and November 29 at 2pm.

Space was limited so bookings were essential.

Mr Rowsthorn will also conduct a workshop on public performance and provide tips on doing stand-up comedy based on his extensive experience on August 29, 10am to 12pm at the Armadale library.
