At the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale council meeting on November 28 acting CEO Gary Clark sported a purple handle bar moustache in support of Movember.

Movember involves 30 days of growing facial hair during the month of November to raise funds and awareness about men’s health issues.

Mr Clark said it was the third time he had participated in Movember to help with funding support for men’s health, specifically mental health and suicide prevention.

“Men’s health issues have significant flow on social costs to community well being,” he said.

“Healthy men are less likely to engage in violence against partners and family.

“It is a great initiative.”

Mr Clark said he had so far raised $1000 for the cause surpassing his intended target of $500.

“Thanks to everyone that has got into the spirit of Movember,” he said.

“The idea of allowing the staff to choose the colour did help to increase the donations but I am not sure about purple.

“I’m not a Docker’s fan.”
