After five years of planning and a $60 million investment, Hitachi officially opened its WA and NT headquarters in the Forrestdale Business Park on Tuesday.
The launch was attended by Australian and Japanese executives and consolidates the business’ four previous locations.
From the building Hitachi will operate its administration, sales, parts and service arms.
The state of the art facility sits on 104,000-square metres of land and uses solar power, sustainable water sources and natural cooling and lighting.
The company has plans to expand the facility in the future, which was expected to bring the total spend to $100 million.
Regional general manager for Western region Robert Williams said Hitachi were there to stay.
“This building is a result of five years of planning and to come up with a state of the art building that will last us for hopefully many many years to come, with room to expand,” he said.
“There was a lot of design criteria to make sure we didn’t build a place that would last for just today but would suit us way out into the future.”
