An East Cannington scrub fire that threatened homes yesterday is has been deemed suspicious by arson squad detectives.

The arson squad’s strike force Vulcan were seeking the public’s assistance with their investigation into the fire which started at about 9.50am yesterday.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to the fire on Station Street near Elizabeth Street.

The fire damaged sheds, stables and fences in the area but  no one was injured.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the fire and who may have seen any suspicious person, vehicles or activity.

Callers may remain anonymous if they wish.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
