Member for Jandakot Joe Francis isn’t concerned about a dramatic shift in his electoral boundaries and thinks there are a few common things all constituents want government to do for them.

The Jandakot electorate has moved east and now includes Harrisdale, Piara Waters, Forrestdale and the western portion of Canning Vale.

Mr Francis said there are two things members of parliament should focus on.

“The big issues that impact everyone day to day are the exactly the same for the people that live in Leeming, which is fairly affluent, as it is for the people who might live east of the electorate,” he said.

“They are job security and physical security.

“It doesn’t matter what suburb you live in the same issues apply.

He said his party were the ones to improve these areas.

“If it came down to the Liberal party’s position on these things compared to the Labor party I’m sure we can win the debate every single day of the week as to why people should vote for the Liberal party,” he said.

He said deregulating trading hours and getting out of the way of business were the best ways to diversify the economy and improve job growth.

Mr Francis said he wanted to make sure his new constituents never wondered where he sits on an issue.

“I guess I’m a different breed to maybe other people who enter politics,” he said.

“No matter what you get asked in public life you’re better off telling people what you stand for and what you believe in rather than being wishy washy without an opinion,” he said.

“I take this probably more out of John Howard’s book, I don’t want the voters of Jandakot to ever wonder where I stand on the issues that matter.

“Agree with me or disagree with me, at least you’ll know.”
