Vin Diesel returns as Xander Cage opposite Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.

It might be the poor man’s Fast and Furious but XXX: Return of Xander Cage still manages to entertain.

The movie is everything you would expect it to be, loud, filled with gravity defying stunts, flashy cars, beautiful women and tough men and while it sometimes threatens to turn your brain to jelly by the sheer silliness of the story line which is nothing original, XXX can be described as a guilty pleasure.

Xander Cage, played by the one and only Vin Diesel who has come into his own since the success of the Fast and Furious franchise, returns as the daring operative, his face a little older but his trademark bald head still shining.

He finds himself in a race against time as he has to recover Pandora’s Box, a device which has the power to annihilate the world.

Cage is joined by a group of fearless thrill seeking allies including Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone to defeat martial arts star Donnie Yen who recently showed off his skills in Rogue One, as he threatens to control the world.

What follows is almost two hours of car chases, explosions, impossible stunts, and quick one-liners, which are so bad they’re good and a number of surprising cameos from Brazilian footballer Neymar to rapper Ice Cube.

XXX: Return of Xander Cage is a fun movie, which doesn’t take itself too seriously, and neither should you.

Also starring Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries fame, Ruby Rose, Toni Collete and Samuel L. Jackson.
