The City of Gosnells Homegrown Festival kicks off this Saturday, starting the month long festival with the Illuminate Night Party.

Supported by X Factor finalist Big T, Pete Murray is set to perform at the opening.

Mr Murray, whose first three full-length albums all reached number one on the Australian music charts said he was excited about the festival.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

“I’ve been rehearsing with the band and it should be a really fun night.”

Throughout February and March the city will be packed with more than 40 events.

Mr Murray said the festival sounded great and music brought people together.

“It makes you feel a certain way,” he said.

“There is so much emotion and each person reacts to music differently but we all love it.”

City of Gosnells mayor Olwen Searle said the festival showcased vibrancy in the community, which was worth celebrating.

““With plenty of free or low-cost activities on offer, I encourage everyone to join in the fun, whether you feast your eyes on fantastic performances or enjoy a feast for your stomach with our Food for Thought series,” she said.

“You could also stretch your muscles and minds with our eco adventures and skate park series, enjoy some arts and crafts, or go wild at our children’s and family activities.”

Starting at 5pm at the Gosnells Oval, Illuminate is a free-ticketed event.
