Mills Park has been a hit with City of Gosnells residents.

Earlier this month the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) awarded the City of Gosnell’s Mills Park Redevelopment project a six green star rating for representing world leadership in sustainable construction.

The city had previously received the rating for its design of the park and this latest award recognises the facility, which has been operating for almost a year, as one of the nation’s most energy efficient.

The Green Star As Built rating also recognised the city’s financial, social and environmental sustainability approach to the redevelopment of Mills Park.

City of Gosnells mayor Olwen Searle commended the city’s staff and its contracted partnership team for achieving full marks on its round one submission to the GBCA.

“This project targeted 76 weighted points and the city achieved 76 points on its first round submission,” she said.

“An outstanding effort by everyone involved.

“The Mills Park development is the first six star public building as built certified project in Australia.”

Mr Searle it was great that residents now had a beautiful and sustainable community facility.

“Mills Park has already proven to be winner among local sports groups and visitors to the play an picnic areas,” she said.

“It is wonderful to see it being embraced by our community.”
