The Maharaja Store in Willetton was convicted of breeching the Food Act for failing to protect food from contamination.

The store on 145 High Road, Willetton, was found in contravention of the Food Act 2008 on three occasions since late 2016.

The Department of Health convicted the store on March 31 for breaching six clauses of the act.

The DoH found it failed to protect food from contamination and store food under temperature control, failed to maintain food premises to a standard of cleanliness and failed to take all practicable measures to eradicate and prevent the harbourage of pests on the food premises.

The store was fined $12,000 plus an additional $1338.
