12-year-old Layne McKinnon raised $130.

Students at John Wollaston Anglican Community School shaved off their hair this week in a bid to raise money for charity.

From the school 16 children raised over $2000 for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave event.

The Principal’s personal assistant Susan Kirby shaved her hair as well as Head of Learning Area Gary Bordoni who had his moustache shaved off.

Year 7 student Layne McKinnon is 12-years-old and shaved his head.

He had already shaved his head two years ago for the same cause.

“I got involved to raise money for cancer research but also so my friends would be aware the event was going on,” he said

Layne said his mum was a bit unsure about him doing it again but dad was all for it and he managed to raise $130 this year.

The students who shaved their heads were Bailey Grant, Blake Sullivan, Clay Gibsone, Dorian Hayes, Ethan Van Dyken, James Beasley Gard, Kayde Leyshon, Layne McKinnon, Leighton Hanley, Matthew Blechynden, Patrick Colley, Reilly Mazzola, Ronan Marc Cowley, Sam McDonald, Tyler Nygen and Tyson Mobbs.

Tyler and Reid Hairdressers in Canning Vale provided assistance shaving the children’s heads for free.
