Opal Armadale aged care facility celebrated winning two awards last month.
The facility was presented with the award for Home of the Year and they were commended for its health and safety at a conference in Queensland on May 19.
The facility beat out 73 other home facilities across the country to win the award.
They were also recognised for going 100 days without any injuries to staff or residents.
Opal Armadale facility manager Hayley Crespi said staff at the centre had worked very hard in achieving the recognition.
“We are close to 200 days injury free,” she said.
“We have been able to ensure that our clinical indicators are below benchmarks.
“This means we have done a good job of ensuring our residents are safe and well cared for.”
Ms Crespi also said health and safety was one of the top priorities at Opal Armadale.
“It is very important to us,” she said.
“We make sure our staff and residents are safe.”
She said the aged care facility had a health and safety committee, which she described as a family who looked after each other.
Regional manager Daymon Johnson said the award was also in part to great leadership within the facility.
“The staff are really committed to making the lives of our residents better,” he said.
Opal Armadale clinical manager Gemma Edwards said it was a proud moment bringing the award back to the facility.
“We were very overwhelmed,” she said.
“It’s absolutely great and we are all really proud.”
