Nicholson’s Bar and Grill was filled with animal lovers yesterday as more than 70 people celebrated Christmas in July.

Southern River pro-life cat and dog refuge Animal Protection Society of WA hosted the festive event to raise money and awareness for the shelter and the 200-plus animals that are in search of their forever home.

Event organiser Jan Sabin said the luncheon went well with many turning out to show their support.

“We are so pleased with the turnout and the amount raised for the Animal Protection Society as we really need all the help we can get,” she said.

“Every day we are getting phone calls from people who are wanting to surrender their animals and we take as many as we possibly can.

“We hope that extra interest shown in these types of events and promotions will help us find loving homes for our cats, kittens and dogs.”

Guests enjoyed a roast dinner, dessert and a selection of prizes and raffles were up for grabs.

All profits made on the day would go to assist in the everyday running of the shelter.
