Gosnells City Football Club player Jack Wam’z Kiama has been called a star in the making by the club when he won the best player award for the state division one league under 18s at the Football West trophy fun day on October 24.
The year 11 student at Canning Vale College said he had been playing soccer ever since he started walking.
When he moved with his family from Kenya to Gosnells the first thing he did was find a team.
He joined Gosnells City FC and has been with the club since 2012.
Jack, who is a striker, said he was happy to be nominated but was speechless when he found out he had won the award.
“I was so happy I almost cried,” he said.
“I don’t even know what to say, I never thought I would win it.”
Jack said he was an avid Manchester United supporter and could not find words to describe how he felt about the game.
“It’s off season right now,” he said.
“I’m having a family gathering to celebrate my win and I will continue playing until the season starts again.”
Jack recently made it through four stages of trials held by Perth Glory and hopes to play for them.
Gosnells City FC coach Alan Dunlop said Jack was an absolute lad and a very talented player.
