Araluen botanic park celebrated 25 years of operation and welcomed its spring festival on Tuesday.

Past and current stakeholders of the park celebrated the park’s amazing journey.

In 1990 the state government purchased the park and since then, under the management of the Araluen botanic park foundation, it has grown to an international tourist destination.

The park and its associated festivals draw crowds of about 110,000 people annually.

Foundation general manager Grant Nixon said it was a fantastic time to celebrate the park’s success and an opportune time to build on the momentum and secure the organisation’s future. He said every day they were still working to improve the park.

“Plans are also afoot to develop a master precinct plan for the park which would include the purchase of the Bettenay property to the north which would provide a safer entry, parking and secure our water supply into an ever-drying future,” he said.

The it’s yates springtime at Araluen festival will run until November.
