Thousands turned out for the dawn service last Thursday to pay their respects to our armed services.
Ken Hepburn, president of the Armadale sub branch, and a veteran said he was very pleased with the attendance.
“It was especially pleasing to see all of the family groups and children and it was a pleasure to see them pay their respects to all veterans over the years through different wars,” he said.
“We wouldn’t have the country we have today if people hadn’t made the sacrifices we did.”
Armadale RSL was standing room only as people packed the small building to mingle with the diggers.
“It was great day attended by many people back to the RSL, who enjoyed a gunfire breakfast, a lunch later and a good game of two up and a beer.
“We are very keen to get younger veterans to join, but a lot of younger veterans don’t think they are old enough to join the RSL, but they are most welcome to come in and meet other veterans who know what they have been through,” he said.
