At daybreak each Wednesday, the Graffiti Busters head out on their weekly mission to clean up the city’s streets.
Armed with rollers and a full spectrum of paints, the dedicated ‘awesome foursome’ begin to tackle the task list of graffiti clean-up jobs reported to the City of Armadale each week.
But they’ll often touch up a public wall or bus shelter or light pole or two on their own initiative as they move through the streets.
They’re careful not to touch private property without permission; any resident or small business owner wanting their free service can make a report via the Snap Send Solve app, or by contacting the City of Armadale on 9394 5000.
The four volunteers cover 560-square kilometres of territory, from Karragullen to Piara Waters.
And their workload is increasing, with graffiti sprees becoming more and more common in the city.
But they refuse to be discouraged – they enjoy the work, and take pride in keeping their hometown looking respectable. A couple have been busting graffiti for over ten years, since retirement.
There used to be a Saturday squad too, but that team has since disbanded.
They welcome anyone interested in forming up the Saturday team again to contact the City of Armadale’s volunteer coordinator.
