Police have reported up to four men with their faces covered robbed a number of homes in the south-east metropolitan district earlier this week.
On September 3 police were first called to a house in Garratt Road, Bayswater about 9.15pm.
It has been alleged that two men forced their way into the house and assaulted the occupant, knocking him unconscious before stealing a silver Mazda 3, a replica memorabilia-style firearm and other property.
About 11.25pm the same night a number of men forced their way into a home in Marlee Court, Langford armed with a firearm.
They searched the house and allegedly stole money before leaving in a Mazda 3.
A neighbour said he was not shocked by the incident.
He alleged they had been hosting parties well into the early hours of the morning for more than three weeks and said something like this was bound to happen.
The neighbour said he had enough.
“We’ve got cars on the driveway at all hours or going up and down the street,” he said.
“They once had a fire go up in their backyard a few weeks ago and I saw the flames go up high.”
Another neighbour said he slept through the alleged burglary but when he woke up and saw the authorities outside he assumed it had something to do with a runaway pet.
“I had no idea it was so serious,” he said.
“We are all a bit shocked and scared for our safety but what can you do, you just have to go on and stay vigilant.”
The men also forced their way into a house in Lewis Road, Martin about 11.45pm once again armed with a firearm.
An occupant arrived home while the offenders were at the property, he was chased and had his vehicle damaged with a baseball bat but managed to flee.
The offenders left the scene in a Mazda 3 and just after midnight on September 4 they allegedly broke into a house in Pentecost Loop, Southern River.
Police said they attempted to steal a Holden Commodore but were not successful.
