Memorial Park in Armadale will be transformed into a mini cricket cauldron on Australia Day, playing host to a backyard bash community cricket match.
T20 format cricket will be played in park’s amphitheatre as part of the City of Armadale’s Australia Day celebrations.
Perth Scorchers mascot Blaze will also be there and children will be able to participate in skill zones and challenging mini games.
As well as the cricket, families will be able to enjoy fireworks in the evening as well as music from triple ARIA award winning band the Badloves.
This is the only WA show for The Badloves who were visiting the state fresh from their popular red hot summer tour that featured Jimmy Barnes, Noiseworks and the Angels.
Children and parents alike will also be able to throw on their bathers and cool down in the purpose built water fun zone complete with water slides and water cannons.
A host of activities for all ages including carnival rides, free go kart rides and plenty of refreshment options will also be available.
Celebrations start at 5pm.
Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said the iconic Minnawarra Park was the ideal venue to host the event.
“This event is close to home for our residents and in a venue that everyone knows and loves, offering a great alternative to the Perth skyworks,” he said.
“As always there is a huge range of activities for families as we come together to celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian.”
A temporary public car park will be run to fundraise for the Waroona fires.
It will be for a gold coin donation and located on the corner of Abbey and Armadale roads with access from Forrest Road and Railway Parade.
The celebrations are smoke and alcohol free.
