A novel about parents, grandparents, children and your grandchildren, born or not born yet is told in the newest novel called Dreams by Leeming artist and American export Dan Churach.

There are intertwined stories that involve scientists, journalists and law enforcement people follow Mr Churach’s previous novel Fever.

Dreams is a story about family, of younger people who grow and thrive through their parents and grandparents and at the same time of older people who learn from and feel joy through their offspring.

The theme behind Dreams involves a 77-year-old grandfather who shares the character lead with his 29-year-old granddaughter allowing the frame of reference to
span a cross-generational readership.

Mr Churach said his newest release is by far his favourite novel.

“I guess this is because I tried to link the lives of individual family members across generations and I found that a necessary challenge,” he said.

“It seemed an interesting way to look at cause-and-effect over several lifetimes yet all in one story.

“Having taught sciences most of my career I focused on the logic-side of things in my lectures but I’d have been a lousy teacher if I didn’t focus on the emotional side of things with my students.”

Mr Churach said he tries to attempt to use both his head and gut but understands that by being human sometimes mistakes are made.

“Having taught sciences most of my career, I focused on the logic-side of things in my lectures, but I’d have been a lousy teacher if I didn’t focus on the emotional side of things with my students,” he said.

“Younger readers will relate to disquieting feelings they may experience about the fate of their elders and ultimately about their own destinies.

“Older readers will identify with their reflections back over a lifetime as well as concern about the world they are leaving their children and grandchildren.

“The not-so-hidden secret is that even if we could somehow construct a mythical world of all children, adults or older folks, it would be a much saffer place than the cross-generational reality in which we live.”
