After losing his mother to lung cancer earlier this year local baker Brent Honey scratched his head as to how he could help the charity, which helped his family during their time in need.

Owner of Honey’s Bakehouse Mr Honey said they had decided to support this year’s Cancer Council Daffodil Day fundraiser by donating the majority of profits from their busiest day of trade this Saturday.

“We thought about making a particular product and donating the proceeds from that but we thought it wouldn’t be enough,” he said.

“By donating our proceeds our customers would be donating without even trying, all they have to do is buy their normal products and we can do the rest.”

Mr Honey said the fundraiser would be supported with a sausage sizzle held by the team at Fidock and Co Real Estate and Jarrah Settlements with the sausages donated by local butcher Olsen Butchers.

“We are excited for Saturday,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter whether a customer buys 10 loaves of bread or a jam donut, every little bit goes to Daffodil Day and hopefully we can contribute to keeping someone else’s mum around a little bit longer.”
