The club’s awards night celebrated ongoing contributions from players past and present including Jay Smith and Cameron McNab.

The Bentley Cricket Club celebrated the close of another season on Friday, April 28 with its Ralph Dungey Award Night at the City of Canning’s Wyong Reserve.

It was an evening full of recognition, camaraderie, and a few well-earned cold drinks.

Mayor Patrick Hall and MP Zaneta Mascarenhas joined club members to hand out awards and share in the club’s achievements, including a major milestone for veteran player Chris Lockyer, who was honoured for reaching 300 games.

Lockyer’s long-standing contribution to the club includes 3341 runs, a top score of 73, and an impressive 441 wickets at an average of 15.85–with best figures of 7/44.

His heartfelt speech on the night reflected just how deeply connected he is to the club’s culture and history.

Club President Jay Smith and a member, Cameron McNab, were also recognised as they were both named the club’s newest Life Members.

The evening was a reminder of what local sport is all about.
