Students from Thornlie Primary School paraded proudly through the school assembly area last week dressed as their favourite characters for Book Week.

The costumes were aplenty showcasing everything from Where’s Wally and Harry Potter to Mary Poppins and Spiderman as the students relished in the colourful experience.

Principal Lee Woodcock said the week-long educational event reinforced the importance of reading for both enjoyment and information.

“The school held a Book Week inspired treasure map competition that encouraged creative thinking, imagination and problem solving,” he said.

“Students created treasure maps that linked to this year’s theme of Find Your Treasure and attended a fun interactive Book Week incursion called Treasure Hunt.”

Mr Woodcock said many of the students enjoyed the opportunity to share information with their peers about their favourite books and dress up as their idols.
