The Byford Baptist Church will receive a $2000 boon from the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale to support its community food market.

Byford is in the top five mortgage-stressed suburbs nationally.  And the community food market supports around 250 households each week.

This timely support will help many residents facing financial hardships, ensuring they can have a dignified Christmas.

The motion was brought to the table by Cr Morgan Byas and unanimously supported by council.

“As we approach Christmas, a time for giving and compassion, it’s more important than ever to support those in our community who are doing it tough,” Cr Byas said.

“This funding isn’t just about providing food; it’s about giving our valuable ratepayers the dignity and joy they deserve during the festive season.

“In the spirit of Christmas, it’s crucial that we come together as a community to support those in need. This is the time of year when acts of charity and kindness resonate most.”
