A supermarket worker was knocked unconscious in a scuffle with a suspected shoplifter last night at Haynes Shopping Centre.
About 6.20pm a woman entered the Armadale Road supermarket.
She began selecting items from the shelves and placed them into a bag before exiting the store without paying.
Two staff members noticed the female and requested she speak to them at the rear of the store.
The woman asked to be taken to use the toilets where she locked herself inside and refused to leave.
After a short discussion the woman pushed past the staff members and ran from the toilets to escape.
The staff members were assaulted and one was knocked unconscious before she ran from the store.
Both were taken to Armadale Kelmscott Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries.
One had injuries to her arm and the other a laceration to her head, which required staples.
