The brains behind Byford’s new coworking space are getting ready to showcase other local female-preneurs in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Byford Co.Lab’s Jacqui Gandy and Lisa Whittington will host the Women in Business Showcase Event at their Mead Street office on March 8.
The event will feature a diverse array of local women entrepreneurs and business owners sharing their businesses with the community.
More than a dozen vendors are already registered for the event.
“We are proud to announce that we will be accepting donations for a local women’s refuge during the event,” Lisa Whittington said.
“We believe this is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together to support and empower women, both in business and in need.”
On top of running the Byford Co.Lab, which features private suites, boardroom for hire and day desk, Jacqui Gandy is also the managing director of the Office Collective which provides ‘back end’ support for small businesses, and which will also be showcasing at the Women in Business event.
For Jacqui, supporting local women in their business pursuits is not just a job, but an important part of strengthening local community.
“Local small businesses promote healthier communities and benefit the local economy. I truly believe small and medium business have the potential to drive our economy forward, not just post-covid, but facing all obstacles to come,” she said.
Siobhan from Busy Hands Cleaning is just one example of how small business benefits the community.
In just over a year, the busy mum of three has gone from a sole trader, to employing seven staff members and boasting a large portfolio of private and commercial clients.
Then there’s Aimee, who on top of seeing the birth, growth and expansion of Rise Dance Studios in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale over the past couple of years, has now also ventured into event planning, with SonnyDays.events.
She will be there to showcase her new venture, and has even donated one of her signature balloon garlands for the event’s feature photo wall.
