Member for Armadale Tony Buti received a cheque for $10,000 for the Ride Against Domestic Violence event, which Dr Buti competed in earlier this year.

In May Dr Buti and Minister for Health Roger Cook took part in the charity fundraiser which required cyclists to ride 300 kilometres from Busselton to Victoria Park.

All profits raised from the ride went to five women’s refuges to help women and children who had escaped domestic violence.

It was the second time Dr Buti participated in the fundraiser and last week he received the cheque for the charity at the new Perth Stadium.

State Secretary of the CFMEU Mick Buchan presented the $10,000 cheque, which is in addition to money raised by participants of the ride.

Dr Buti said he was grateful for the gesture.

“The generosity of Mick and his Union members will provide much needed funds to the women’s refuges we support,” he said.

“In the afternoon, along with some of the other riders, I was privileged to enjoy the hospitality of Starick Services.

“I’m proud RADV can support this vital support service for women and children experiencing family and domestic violence.”
