ALDI Australia has confirmed its next Western Australian store will open in Camillo this Wednesday followed by the Southern River store due to open July 6.

Member for Armadale Tony Buti will do the ribbon cutting at 8.30am.

Aldi Camillo and Southern River will follow Aldi’s new store format with redesigned shelving and expanded wooden produce bays, as well as energy efficient LED lighting and chillers.

Aldi WA managing director Damien Scheidel said Aldi was committed to being the price leader in the market.

“Western Australians will not pay any more for their groceries than ALDI shoppers on the eastern seaboard, with the exception of fresh fruit and vegetables,” he said.

“These products are purchased state by state, and therefore there will be minor variances in pricing for these items.”

The openings follow Aldi’s recent store openings in Belmont, Kwinana, Lakeside Joondalup, Mirrabooka, Halls Head, Australind and Harrisdale.

Aldi has committed to open up to 20 stores by the end of 2016 with a total of 70 stores planned for the state.

The shop is a welcome boost to the Westfield Shopping Town centre in Camillo, which has struggled to keep tenants.
