A local theatre group is rapidly running out of space to safely store its valued assets and is now calling on the public to help with its storage woes.
Roleystone Theatre Group were forced to relocate to the nearby Roleystone Hall in April this year after its beloved 1922 heritage-listed building on Brookton Highway was closed due to structural issues.
While the group has successfully been operating out of the hall for about four months, president Bree Hartley said the group is finding it difficult to store its many costumes, props, lighting, stage pieces and sound equipment needed for its productions.
“The storage areas at the hall are full or near full with the items we have there already,” she said.
“We also have a fair amount at the theatre… but we need to have everything out by the end of September so we are working to a deadline.”
Mrs Hartley said the 86-year-old group is now looking to other storage options in addition to the hall and is hoping someone may have a suitable solution.
“We are seeking storage in the community, hopefully local to Roleystone or close by, and free of charge would be amazing, as we are already using our group’s savings to fit out the hall and pay for hire of the venue,” she said.
“Access would probably mostly be on weekends but some committee members are retired or shift workers so may need to access at other times.”

The City of Armadale committed to the rebuild of the group’s building at the December council meeting with $250,000 assigned in the 2019/20 budget for detailed planning.
The rebuild is expected to be completed by July 2022, assuming external funding is sought.
