Last year, cities, shires, RSLs, and community groups across Australia were left with no choice but to cancel their ANZAC Day events.
With 2020 done and dusted, the Canning community are now getting ready for this year’s commemorations.
The Canning Districts RSL will be holding a dawn service at its premises on Wharf Street, followed by a gunfire breakfast.
From 8am, the City of Canning and Canning Districts RSL will be leading a march through the streets of Cannington.
A memorial service will then be held in the city’s Civic Gardens Park, which will include speeches and a wreath laying ceremony.
The RSL will be serving morning tea and lunch, before hosting games of two-up from 2pm.
“ANZAC Day is extremely special…this year, we’re expecting to have bigger crowds than ever before,” Canning Districts RSL secretary Eleanor Wilkins said.
The Riverton RSL will be hosting its own dawn service and gunfire breakfast from 6am.
The RSL held its annual 2021 ANZAC Dinner on Saturday, April 17, with residents and local leaders in attendance.
