Celebrations for Maddington club after a record season

About 150 players, sponsors, guests and club members of the Maddington White City Football Club came together at the Serbian Community Centre on November 24 to celebrate its annual awards night.

The club had a very successful 2019 season culminating in a second place finish and promotion to the Amateur Premier League for season 2020.

Club president Zeljko Tesic welcomed the crowd with lunch and refreshments before starting the awards for the reserves team.

Stevica Petrovic was awarded the best and fairest player for the reserves team after an excellent season.

Mileta Miletic came away with the top goal scorer award for the third consecutive season with 15 goals for the year, while Hassan Lizalda was recognised with a coaches award trophy for his hard work on and off the pitch.

For the first team, Samuel Morrow capped of a fantastic season by being the first Englishman to win the clubs best and fairest award.

Morrow won many admirers in his first season at Maddington with his consistency, attitude and leadership.

Courageous goalkeeper Walter Valencia saved the team on many occasions throughout the season and came away with the runner up best and fairest award in recognition of his efforts.

Jose Zuniga took out the top goal scorer award for the first team with a total of 25 goals for the season, while John Harry Moreno, received the first team coaches award.

Coach Cesar Gonzalez and team manager Gustavo Ospina were thanked by the club with gifts for their efforts all season.

Petar Mrdja was recognised for his efforts during the season by being awarded as the clubman of the year.

The final trophy for the evening was awarded to Jose Zuniga who was remarkably voted as the best player in the league by the Football West referees.

The team has already started its preparations for season 2020 with training every Thursday night at the Serbian Community Centre starting at 6.30pm.
