A 20-year-old man has been charged by police with ‘Conduct intended to racially harass’ after an incident outside the Canning Vale Gurudwara on Tuesday, August 27.

“The incident, which was shared on social media, caused significant emotional distress to the Sikh community in Western Australia and globally,” a police spokesman said.

Police investigations are ongoing, but it is currently believed that the 20-year-old acted alone.

In response to the incident, senior Sikh community delegates met with WA Police executives at Police Headquarters last week. During the meeting, they discussed the recent incident and shared relevant information.

WA Police expressed gratitude to the Sikh community for their cooperation and reassured them that efforts will continue to ensure their safety and support in WA.

Police are also urging the public to avoid speculation and rely only on information from credible sources.
