Police have charged 22-year-old Kelmscott man Jaykota Dain Lewis-Nordberg with criminal damage by fire as the result of an investigation into an Armadale house fire last month. 

The fire at the Sixth Road property was first reported to authorities just after 8pm on February 21 with crews from Armadale, Maddington and Osborne Park called to fight the blaze. 

The fire gutted the single-storey home and caused about $200,000 damage. 

The accused appeared before the Armadale Magistrates Court on March 1 and was remanded in custody to reappear on March 15. 

Jaykota Dain Lewis-Nordberg is also facing a number of other charges including offering to sell or supply a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited drug and drug paraphernalia and breach of bail undertaking. 

He has pleaded not guilty to some of the charges and will face two Perth courts on March 29 and May 10.
