Christmas cheer will bring smiles to children and families at the City of Armadale’s annual Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Parade next Friday.

The parade will feature a variety of colourful characters including about 15 different community groups leading the crowd through Jull Street Mall to Memorial Park.

Santa Claus will give his traditional Christmas address before the audience is treated to a musical spectacular with performances by schools and choirs supported by the Armadale City Concert Band.

The city will also welcome back event favourite and international songstress Katherine John alongside the Classic Sounds Ensemble and the Roleystone Christmas Choir.

Armadale Primary, John Wollaston Anglican and Clifton Hills Primary school choirs will join them.

A Salvation Army Christmas appeal food bank will be stationed in the park and guests were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to help brighten the Christmas of families in need.

The parade will start at 6pm in Jull Street Mall while the carols will start at 7pm in Memorial Park.

The event is free and families were encouraged to attend early to get close to the parade.
