While numbers of entries in this year’s City of Armadale Connected Community Christmas Lights Trail competition were down, the wow factor has grown exponentially.
A total of 26 households registered to take part in 2024, with two city-wide major prizes up for grabs, and also prizes going to the best display in each ward.
It was no surprise that the winner of the Best Private Residence went to Kevin Bradney of 3 Pelham Street in Armadale who constructed his very own mini railway and passenger train which has been ferrying delighted visitors around his Christmas wonderland this month.
The stakes were raised for this year’s best solar or green-powered display, with the prize bumped up to $750.
The very deserving eco-friendly winners were Romela and Melvin Sanggalan of 4 Seine Mews in Champion Lakes, who also put as much effort into emphasising the true meaning of Christmas with their beautiful display.
A special shout out to the owners of: 23 Willowmead Way, Kelmscott; 6 Calytrix Road, Roleystone; 6 Mannhein Crescent, Piara Waters; 24 Riverside Lane, Seville Grove; 38 Burdekin Turn, Hilbert; and 24 Weston Terrace, Kelmscott, who took out the individual ward prizes.
“Congratulations to all the deserving winners, and a big thank you to all our participants this year,” Mayor Butterfield said.
“The creativity, expertise and sheer number of lights continues to grow, with one of this year’s winners using a mini passenger train ride to give visitors an immersive lighting experience.
“The City’s Connected Community Christmas Lights Trail continues to bring the community together to enjoy the Christmas spirit in our streets and neighbourhoods.”
