The Gosnells Bowling Club mantelpiece will need to make way for more silverware after the club took out top honours at an awards night recently.

The club picked up Club of the Year in the small category for the second consecutive year at this year’s Clubs WA Industry Excellence Awards, which was held on June 16 at Crown Perth.

The club also took home the prize for Club Members Event for its popular club-cooked Friday night dinners at the Kookaburra Café.

Club President Peter Charkiewicz said the recognition delivered great confidence to the management team and members that the organisation was on the right track for the future.

“With a steady increase in membership both in the bowling and social members categories we are in the process of planning for the future of the club,” he said.

“Several years ago we implemented a strategic business plan which outlined the future and direction that our club needs to undertake to guarantee the future of our club.

“Whatever direction that may take these awards are testament to the professional approach of management plus the dedication of its members to ensure our future is secure.

“Our club is known as the friendliest club in the west for a specific reason.

“The friendly atmosphere around the club is highly contagious and makes people want to come back.”
