Former Gosnells police sergeant and Liberal candidate for Thornlie Rob Coales said he is not one to sit behind a desk, which is why he is standing in the March election to get the job done.

The youngest of two Mr Coales grew up north of the river and studied politics and transnational crime prevention.

He is currently studying law part time.

Mr Coales said the campaign has been hard work so far but he is having a wonderful time meeting electors and being able to assist constituents, which has been a rewarding experience for him.

“I’ve been a police sergeant in the area for a long time,” he said.

“I know what it takes to combat crime in this area.

“I want to make the electorate of Thornlie a place where residents are proud to live and work in and where everyone feels safe in the homes and on the streets.”

Mr Coales attended the launch of the City of Gosnells Homegrown Festival on Saturday evening.

He said it was a wonderful community event, which brought people together.

“Community is very important,” he said.

“My electorate is made up of people from many backgrounds and cultures and that’s great.

“I want to work towards bringing the community together.”
