Police will be speaking to businesses and residents in Byford today as part of their efforts to catch a rapist who committed a lunchtime attack last month.

Sex assault squad detectives will be manning a forward command vehicle at the car park at the corner of South West Highway and Abernethy Road between 10am and 2pm.

The attack happened about midday on March 14 when a man armed with a small knife confronted a 46-year-old woman in her home.

The man threatened her before forcing her into another room and indecently assaulting her.

He then fled.

He was described as being aged between 20 to 25 years with fair skin, about 183 centimetres, slight build with short blond hair and a long fringe.

He was wearing a red and blue horizontal striped short sleeve shirt with a collar, blue denim jeans and a black belt that had a gold coloured square open buckle.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Warrington Road, Mead Street and Gordin Way around the time of the incident.
