Residents across the City of Canning are invited to gather in solemn tribute on Friday, 25 April, as the community comes together to honour the courage and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women for ANZAC Day 2025.
Hosted in partnership with the Canning Districts Sub Branch of the Returned & Services League (RSL), the City’s annual ANZAC Day March and Commemoration Service will commence at 7:45am, beginning from Kent Street and concluding at the Civic Amphitheatre and Gardens in Cannington.
This moving tribute will be followed by a service at 8am featuring a minute’s silence, a wreath-laying ceremony, and live performances from the Canning City Brass Band, Rossmoyne Community Choir, Wairua Tipuna, and Fremantle Pipes & Drums.
The City has also confirmed that an earlier Dawn Service will be held at 6am at the Canning Districts RSL Sub Branch, located at 162 Wharf Street, for those who wish to mark the day in a quieter, reflective setting.
To ensure the safety of marchers, some of whom will be carrying large instruments, road closures will be in effect from 7am across key parts of the march route, including Kent Street, Fleming Avenue, sections of George Street West, Gledhill Way, and Queens Park Road. Attendees are kindly asked not to leave parked cars on these roads.
Free parking for the event will be available at the City’s Administration building and Civic Gardens. However, Kent Street Weir parking will be reserved for marchers only after 7am.
Members of the community who would like to lay a wreath are encouraged to contact the City’s Major Events Team at events@canning.wa.gov.au to ensure proper coordination on the day.
