23yo Harrisdale man caught driving 104km/h over limit

A 23-year-old man from Harrisdale has been charged with reckless driving and had his vehicle impounded after allegedly travelling at over 200km/h on the Kwinana Freeway.

It’s alleged that at around 2:35 am on Saturday, January 18, the man driving a black Mercedes Benz C200K sedan was travelling at excessive speed northbound on the Kwinana Freeway in Bateman, near the Parry Avenue overpass.

The man was captured by a fixed speed camera travelling 104km/h over the posted speed limit, at an alleged speed of 204km/h in a 100km/h speed zone.

On Monday, January 20, police attended a residence in Harrisdale and apprehended the man.

The 23-year-old has been charged with one count of ‘Reckless Driving, Speed of 155km/h or more’, and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 4.

Police call for witnesses after pedestrian killed in Carlisle

Major Crash Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a fatal crash that killed a 58-year-old female pedestrian in Carlisle last week.

The incident occurred at around 4 pm on Wednesday, January 22, on Star Street, where Police say a white Hyundai hatchback and the pedestrian collided.

The woman was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital but was sadly later declared deceased.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 41-year-old female driver, was uninjured.

Ride share driver assaulted

Cannington Detectives have charged a 25-year-old man with robbery following an incident in Welshpool on Sunday, January 19.

Police allege the accused was travelling in a rideshare vehicle when he became aggressive and the driver asked him to exit the vehicle.

When exiting the vehicle on Leach Highway, Police said the 25-year-old assaulted the male driver who is in his 40s, and stole his car, a Toyota Corolla Fielder station wagon.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, February 5.

Motorbike rider caught 100kmph over speed limit

Road Policing Group South have charged a 17-year-old with reckless driving after he was captured travelling more than 100 kilometres over the speed limit in Treeby on Friday.

The learner driver was driving his Triumph motorcycle in an easterly direction on Jandakot Road, near Cessna Road, at around 5pm when officers allegedly detected him going 175kph in a 70kph zone.

The motorcycle was impounded and the accused was charged with one count of ‘Reckless driving exceeded the speed limit by 45 km/h or more’.

He is due to appear in court at a date yet to be set.

“Motorcycle riders are already considered a vulnerable road user, but when you add that to the lack of experience and lack of judgement displayed by this learner rider, you can see how my officers have prevented a tragedy,” Commander Mike Bell of the Road Policing Command said.

The motorcycle has been seized by Police.

Police pounce on parcel prowler

A 45-year-old woman has been charged by Cannington Police following an investigation into the alleged theft of a parcel from a Beckenham residence.

Police allege the woman stole the parcel from the property on Thursday, January 23

The 45-year-old woman has been summoned to appear in court at a later date.

Cannington Police recovered the parcel and returned it to its owner.

Police seek witnesses to Cloverdale assault

Cannington Detectives are seeking public assistance following an assault that occurred inside a shopping centre on Belmont Avenue in Cloverdale on Monday, January 27.

Police believe the incident was witnessed by members of the public, who attempted to intervene and provide assistance.

A man has been charged and is scheduled to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, February 5.

“Appalling example of driver behaviour”

A 24-year-old has been caught driving 100 kph over the speed limit in Forrestdale.

About 6.30am on Saturday, officers from the Road Policing Group South clocked a Toyota Camry travelling at 182kph in a 70kph zone on the Tonkin Highway, near Ranford Road.

The young man was charged with reckless driving, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 per cent, and not having a licence.

​He is due to appear in court at a later date.

“Driving at 112km/h over the speed limit, while nearly three times the legal alcohol limit, on wet roads, is an appalling example of driver behaviour,” Inspector Steve Walters of the Road Policing Command said.
