Man charged after machete assault in Beckenham
Cannington Detectives have charged a 22-year-old man from Carlisle following an incident that occurred in Beckenham last Sunday, November 17.
At approximately 2:30 pm, it’s alleged that a man armed with a machete assaulted another man, known to him, in the car park of Mills Park on Brixton Road.
It is also alleged that after the assault, the man with the machete continued to yell threats at the victim and members of the public in the area.
The victim was treated in hospital for an injury to his arm.
The 22-year-old man was charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and being armed in a manner likely to cause fear.
He appeared before the Armadale Magistrates Court on Monday but was remanded in custody, with no plea entered.
He is due to appear via video link in the Perth Magistrates Court on Monday, November 25, for a bail application.

Four-hour police pursuit
A 28-year-old Beckenham man has been charged by police following a four-hour pursuit across several southern suburbs last Saturday, November 16.
The incident began at approximately 10:20 am on Leach Highway in Shelley, where police allege they attempted to stop the driver of a white Toyota Prado with stolen plates travelling eastbound.
After the vehicle failed to stop for police, the man is said to have travelled through several southern and eastern suburbs, frequently driving at excessive speeds and in a dangerous manner.
Police said they made numerous attempts to stop the vehicle but were unable to do so in a safe manner.
Just after 2 pm, the man stopped the vehicle outside a residence in Beckenham and was seen running into the yard.
Police were then able to apprehend the man without incident.
The 28-year-old has since been charged with several offences, including failing to comply with a police direction to stop (aggravated), reckless driving to escape police pursuit, driving without authority, driving a vehicle with a forged, replica, or false plate, failing to obey an order given by an officer, possession of stolen property, and unlawfully obtaining property.
The man fronted the charges at the Northbridge Magistrates Court on Sunday, November 17.
Motorcycle stolen in Queens Park
Public assistance is being sought by Cannington Detectives as they continue their investigation into a burglary that occurred in Queens Park on Saturday, November 9.
Between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm, an unknown person or persons broke into a garage on George Street and stole a white Suzuki motorcycle, registration 1KW628.
As the person(s) were last seen leaving the area on motorbikes, police are urging nearby residents to review their CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage, which can be uploaded directly online.
