Canning police takes action on crime
As part of Operation Toolibin, between Tuesday, October 15, and Sunday, October 26, Cannington Police, in collaboration with the City of Canning, the Liquor Enforcement Unit, Police Mounted Section, and Road Policing Group, targeted theft and anti-social behaviour in the local area.
Police described the operation as a success, with 24 people charged with a total of 49 offences and four Move on Notices issued.
During the operation, police conducted 304 traffic stops, issued 69 cautions, 30 traffic infringements, impounded two vehicles, and responded to 39 community calls for assistance.
Police are reminding members of the community that information received from the public can be essential to any investigation.

Ellenbrook woman charged after toddler assault
A 21-year-old woman from Ellenbrook has been charged by WA Police with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm after allegedly attacking a toddler in the face during a random act of violence.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:25 pm on Tuesday at the Park Centre in East Victoria Park, where the mother was holding her child.
In CCTV footage released by police, a woman can be seen rushing towards the mother and reaching over to strike the child while the mother attempted to turn away from the perpetrator.
Police have confirmed the two-year-old sustained facial injuries but was not seriously harmed.
The incident prompted a major citywide search initiated by Cannington detectives before a 21-year-old woman was taken into custody at Mirrabooka Shopping Centre around 11:10 am on Wednesday.
The woman charged will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Man arrested for assault
Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a man after an alleged indecent assault on a teen in Harrisdale.
At 3.25pm last Thursday (17 October), a teenage girl was walking along a street in Harrisdale when she was approached by an unknown man.
He began to chat with the girl before allegedly indecently assaulting her.
Police immediately put out an appeal for the public’s help in identifying a man captured in CCTV images.
On Saturday Child Abuse Squad detectives sought the assistance of Geraldton Detectives, who travelled to a business worksite located in the Mid-West Gascoyne District and arrested a 31-year-old man from Harrisdale.
Local detectives travelled to Geraldton to speak to the arrested man, and they have since charged him with two counts of ‘Indecently deals with a child over 13 and under 16’.
He was refused bail and appeared in Perth Magistrate Court, via a remote link, on Sunday.
