It has felt like the Denny Avenue road works have lasted forever, but the works are finally coming to an end, albeit with some sacrifices in the final stages.
The intersection at Gilwell Avenue and Albany Highway will be temporarily closed from March 17 until mid-April according to METRONET.
A statement released by METRONET said there would be staged impacts to Gilwell Avenue as works continue on Albany Highway to finalise road treatments.
This closure is to allow for excavating, reinstating pavements, realigning roads and asphalting.
Detours to and from Gilwell Avenue will be via Page Road in both directions, and Albany Highway will continue to be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction.
There will be trucks and machinery on local roads creating noise and vibration. Detours and traffic management will be in place.
Out of hours works will be required intermittently, and will follow an approved Noise Management Plan, complying with the Australian standards and the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations.
The level crossing on Denny Avenue will also be permanently closed from April 1, with train disruptions ranging from April 1 to 11 as they implement the new Davis Road rail-over-road pass.
The project should be finalised by June 2021, with area rehabilitation works occurring until December 2021.
