The Canning agricultural, horticultural and recreational society (CAHRS) was putting the final call out for competitors in a range of competitions in the upcoming Canning show.
The society was awaiting on entries for fruits and vegetable, flowers, home and dairy produce as well as home cooking,
It was also looking for sewing and knitting entries, handicrafts, hobby ceramics, painting and drawing, photography, industrial arts and performance art.
Canning show spokesman Ryan Schulz said for those unaware of how agricultural shows worked, it was simple.
“Times gone by have seen members of the community disconnect with their local agricultural society or not realise that they could participate at all,” he said.
“If you can fry a pancake, you’re in the show; if you can paint a picture, you’re in the show; if you can write a poem, you’re in the show; if you can sing a tune, you’re in the show.
“In celebrating 120 years of the Canning show the time is now for members of the south eastern metropolitan area to rekindle their spirit and take part in this festivity, helping CAHRS to celebrate one significantly proud milestone.”
Auditions for the Canning show talent quest were held last weekend with 20 acts picked from 41 hopefuls to return for the semi finals.
The semi finals will be held October 10 at Foxtel Aurora’s the couch studio.
Finalists will hit the main stage at the 2015 make smoking history Canning show, performing in the lead up to the show’s closing support act and internationally toured fab four, alongside the weekend’s headline act Absolute Kylie.
The winner of the award will get a recording with Perth sound recording studio, a two-hour workshop and an interview on the couch.
