A section of Kelmscott Plaza has collapsed and the shopping centre flooded by a deluge of water.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said witnesses reported hearing ‘an explosion’ around 5pm on Saturday before noticing the outer wall of the pharmacy in rubble.
A unit from Armadale Fire and Rescue was first on the scene and reported that a 90kL fire water storage tank outside the pharmacy on Denny Avenue had buckled, “forcing high pressure water to blow out the wall and water to flood the shopping centre”.
The fire main was also damaged in the collapse.
Authorities have not determined the cause of the tank’s collapse.
There were no reports of injuries.
