Kargotich Road users are enjoying a smoother commute with Stage 1 upgrades now officially complete.
These works are the first to be completed under the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s Hypergrowth Roads Program, funded by an $18 million state government commitment.
The Stage 1 works have improved the surface and road condition across a three-kilometre stretch from Rowley Road to Thomas Road in Oakford.
The project included pavement rehabilitation, resurfacing and road widening works.
A series of safety barriers and an existing culvert also received new life as part of the upgrades.
The Hypergrowth Roads Program has targeted high priority roads in need of upgrades across Serpentine Jarrahdale, with sections of Soldiers Road and Orton Road also set for improvements in the coming months.
Upgrading Serpentine Jarrahdale’s local roads network was identified as one of the community’s top priorities in the Shire’s 2022 Community Perceptions Survey.
“Building a safer roads network is a major priority for our Shire, so it’s wonderful to see these Kargotich Road Stage 1 upgrades complete,” shire president Rob Coales said.
“This is just one step in a long journey, but it’s important to acknowledge these milestones and I’m excited for the locals who can now enjoy a smoother drive.”
