It appears Lady Luck has visited suburbs south of the river with five players winning Lotto in the past five days including Tuesday night’s $10 million division one OZ Lotto jackpot, which came from Haynes Good News Agency in Brookdale.

NewsXpress Foothills in Gosnells is also deemed lucky having sold a $1million division one ticket on December 5 and a $6709 division two prize on the same day.

NewsXpress shift manager Eric Yang said everyone at the store was happy about the win.

“We had some champagne the day the person came and collected the prize,” he said.

“We’ve only been at the shop for eight months, this is great.”

Mr Yang said NewsXpress had a golden cat called Maneki-neko, which he credits for the wins.

“The name of the cat means ‘fortune’ in English,” he said.

“People believe that the cat beckoning with an upright paw will bring wealth and good luck to people who come to the shop.”

Mr Yang also said he appreciated the people who have not won any prizes from playing Lotto, as the money they spend buying a ticket contributed towards the development of the City of Gosnells.
